 Abstract
Retail supply chains consist mainly of end consumers, retailers, wholesalers, 3rd party logistic service providers and suppliers. Many retailers experience issues in forecasting, high inventories and mark down of products, whereas customers struggle with a high complexity of products, services and distribution channels. Therefore, the focus of this thesis is on the relationship between end consumers and retailers; this might include 3rd party logistic service providers.

 Aufgabenstellung
The thesis shall work out possibilities to increase value in the supply chains with the help of information sharing and especially under consideration of Auto-ID technologies like RFID and barcode. Furthermore the thesis shall present applications among supply chain members. As an addition game theory shall be used to explain and classify advantages and disadvantages of the applications.

The possibility to enrich the thesis with originality and unique ideas is given. Furthermore it is possible – due to the broad topic of retail supply chains – to modify the focus.

Stimulus for the student: Publication as co-author in case of very good quality; Enrichment of supply / value chain research; Methodological knowledge about portfolio theory and its contribution to value creation in supply networks

 Voraussetzungen
General interest in the topic of supply / value chain management, portfolio theory; Sophistication to create qualitative work; own work initiative; analytical and conceptual skills; interest and willingness in doing academic research!

This study is planned as a Master´s Thesis. Highly interested candidates however, could also carry it out as a Bachelors Thesis. The thesis should preferably be written in English.
